Do you want to make the best choice in the First Contact quest in Starfield? With every fiber of your being, you might want to make the morally wrong choice and upset your good companions. When it comes to deciding the fate of the ship floating outside Porrima II, there is a best choice.

When it comes to the First Contact side quest, you must travel to the Porrima System. Here, you will find a ship floating in space with a busted grav drive. Without that, they are stuck here and can’t go to another planet in the galaxy.

What choice is the right one? Will you source another grav drive, barter a settlement deal with the people of Paradiso, or simply destroy the ship and move on? What choice gives you the best outcome? Here is the best choice in the First Contact mission in Starfield.

What is the best choice in the First Contact mission in Starfield?

If you want the best outcome in the First Contact mission in Starfield, you will want to buy a grave drive for the colonists. This will give you the best outcome because everyone stays alive and the settlers can find a new home. Most importantly, there will be no debt owed to the Paradiso Resort.

As an added bonus, you will run into the ECS Constant later on in the game, leading to more interactions that you wouldn’t get if you just blew up their ship and collected the resources.

To reach this outcome in the mission, choose the “I’ll buy the grav drive and convince them to settle elsewhere” option when talking to the Paradiso Group’s CEO Oliver Campbell and Jiro Sugiyama. From there, go to Hopetech in Hopetown. This is located in the Valo System on the planet Polvo.

After arriving, talk to Bennu St. James and purchase the grav drive. You will either need to pay 40,000 credits or 25,000 depending on your negotiation skills. Return to the crew in orbit around the planet Porrima II and deliver the grav drive.

Once the grav drive is delivered, you can be happy knowing that they can once again use light-speed travel and that you prevented a catastrophe. Return to Porrima II later in the game to collect resources like Lithium.
