Are there planet boundaries in Starfield? Typically, maps have limits and fans know this. Most of the gameplay can be about exploring but you will eventually reach the end of where you are allowed to search.

Is your exploration limited in Starfield? Invisible boundaries will probably exist just like they do in previous Bethesda titles like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. With there being only a little while until Starfield launches in September, more information is being found out.

Will Starfield also launch on Steam Deck? Can you zoom around planets on land vehicles? How many planets are there even? When you land on a planet, will there be limits to your exploration? Is there planet boundaries in Starfield?

Are there planet boundaries in Starfield?

According to a leak, there are boundaries on each planet in Starfield. The leak shows that when you land on a planet, the whole planet is broken up into tiles or sections. This gives you access to various POIs or Points of Interest that you can explore.

The leaked screenshot on Twitter shows a pop-up that states that the boundary on the barren planet has been reached. This is shown in an in-game Starfield text box. This also means that you can’t explore a planet in its entirety if the leak is correct.

This means that you can’t explore the whole planet at one time on any platform whether you are playing on PC or Xbox Series X/S. We cannot confirm this to be completely accurate but Tom Henderson from InsiderGaming also appeared to have confirmed the leak on Twitter.

Neither Bethesda’s Pete Hines nor Todd Howard have confirmed or denied the terrain limits on each of the planets.

Other information about the leak states that the size of these explorable areas is on par with the map size of Skyrim which means that you can wander a few hundred meters in a single direction before hitting the limit.

You are also able to land in areas like New Atlantis along with other cities and fully explore them. While we cannot confirm this leak, we don’t think it sounds too bad for the space exploration game but there has been a kerfuffle around the information.

No matter what, there will be plenty of planet exploration in Starfield. This supposed limitation shouldn’t affect Bethesda’s boundless RPG and should still allow for a good amount of aimless exploration.
