Do you need to save your game in Starfield? Nearly every game nowadays gives you a save option so you don’t need to worry about losing your data. Bethesda games, being RPGs, always have this option whether you are playing on PC or consoles like the Xbox Series X/S. Games like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim allow you to save an infinite number of times.

Make sure that you back up your gameplay so you don’t lose all of your hard work. After all, you don’t want to go through making a character and beating quests just to have it all disappear. Saving frequently allows you to go back to any save as well and restart from a point of your choosing.

Don’t forget to save before lockpicking so you don’t lose your digipicks. Keep your items stored in your ship for easy access to them. Most importantly, save when you reach a new planet so you have somewhere to go back to. This guide will show you how to save the game in Starfield.

Starfield – How to save your game

To create a save file in Starfield, press the ESC key on PC or the options button if you are on Xbox. This will bring you to the in-game menu. Once there, simply select one of the save options. There are two save options to choose from; Save and Quicksave.

A quicksave will save your game very quickly to so you can jump back to it if needed. This is useful when choosing dialogue options or trading. A regular save will back up all your information and create a new save file. You can also choose to overwrite an existing save if you don’t want to create too many.

Once a save game has been created, you can find it by going back to the menu and selecting the load option. This will show you all of your save files. You can also load a save from the main menu.

Those who don’t want to go through the process of creating manual save files can rely on the autosave feature. Autosaves typically happen before bigger events or when you complete specific actions like taking off or landing on a planet. These backup files also go into the load menu with the other save files.
