In the vast open world of Starfield from Bethesda Games, there are plenty of things to do. With literal galaxies worth of content, it can be hard to know where to start.

Whether you’re kicking off your playthrough on release or got early access, missions will be your first step. While the game may seem long, they’re the best place to start to begin your journey through the stars and will give you plenty of guidance.

If you need to know more, we’re here for you. Here’s all the info we know on Starfield missions and how they work.

All Starfield missions so far

Right now, these are the only missions that are currently known in Starfield. There is one main quest:

  • One Small Step

In addition to the main quest, there are also side missions to complete. There are six side missions we know of:

  • Failure to Communicate
  • Friends Like These
  • Further Into the Unknown
  • The Best There Is
  • The Old Neighborhood

We’ll update this article once we know more missions and side quests.

How Starfield missions work

Starfield missions contain the main storyline for the game, as well as reward you generously with plenty of XP, as well as other resources such as weapons that will serve you well in combat. Although we don’t know much about them yet, the quests will presumably guide your exploration of the various planets, factions such as the Constellation Faction and United Colonies Faction, and companions you’ll meet throughout the gameplay.

Bethesda Game Studios is no stranger to huge open worlds, with titles such as Fallout and Skyrim in their catalog, and this is their first new universe in over 20 years. This space epic will let you battle space pirates, collect alien artifacts, choose your own traits with character creation, romance other explorers, and plenty more.

As soon as the Starfield launch day is here this September, fans on PC and Xbox can jump right into this massive space epic with their own hero and complete missions to their heart’s content.
