Something rotten in Kislev is one of the four main campaign modes available in Total War Warhammer 3. Here, we’ll walk you through what the campaign entails and how to access it, as well as tips on how to survive and bring Kislev to victory!

Something rotten in Kislev: campaign details

The forces of Chaos are pushing Kislev to the brink. Their armies surround and threaten to overwhelm Kislev’s forces. In such grave circumstances, the normally fractious Ice Court and Grand Orthodoxy are able to put aside their differences for the sake of their realm and people. And they are not alone. Boris Ursus – or Boris Bokha – the Red Tsar, walks the lands of Kislev once more. Players will each choose one of the three Kislev factions and combine their strengths to hold out and destroy several Chaos armies over a short campaign with a limited number of turns. You must not only survive, but overwhelm the opposing forces, and then focus on capturing cities for the rest of the game. Strategic thinking and full co-operation are needed to turn the tables on Chaos and win the day.

How to access

Thankfully, it couldn’t be easier to get started with Total War Warhammer 3’s Something rotten in Kislev campaign. Simply navigate to the campaigns section of the menu and select multiplayer campaign. Then choose to Host Campaign and select Something rotten in Kislev. From there you can select which of Kislev’s legendary lords you wish to start with. And prepare to defend Kislev from the Chaos onslaught.

Something rotten in Kislev is a primarily co-op focused adventure. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it if you prefer to play solo. Anywhere from 1-3 players can give this campaign a try.

If you want to get to grips with the strengths of Kislev’s armies before jumping into Something rotten in Kislev, you should consider playing the prologue. It not gets you up to speed with the game’s basics. And also introduces you to the majority of Kislev’s forces.

Tips for survival and success

Though circumstances initially seem stacked against Kislev, all is not hopeless in Something rotten in Kislev. The campaign is not especially forgiving, but by making the most of the tools at your disposable it is possible to eke out a win.

There are several factors on your side that. Income and growth both receive a significant boost. And both build and research time has been reduced to only a single turn each. As a result, you can expand and recover far quicker than in the Total War Warhammer 3’s Realm of Chaos campaign.

More than anything, it is crucial to rely on the strengths of each legendary lord and use them to bolster Kislev’s strength as a whole. By being knowledgeable and getting the most out of your faction, you can turn them from desperate defenders into a force to be feared.

Katarin’s frost magic can easily turn the tide of an engagement. She synergises well with the abilities of her frost maidens, who are fearsome magical units in their own right.

The Great Orthodoxy’s patriarchs are similarly useful, receiving boosts under Kostaltyn’s watch. In addition, the faction’s Kossars, Kossovite Dervishes, and Horse Archers fight harder in melee and receive leadership bonuses

Boris’s bonus to bear units can be used cut a swath through unprepared Chaos lines. The elemental bear is already among Kislev’s most powerful resources. But with the regeneration ability that Boris provides, it becomes a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut.

Unite Kislev and strike a decisive blow against chaos in Total War Warhammer 3’s Something rotten in Kislev campaign!
