With the first season of Diablo IV upon us, there’s plenty of new content to look forward to when the patch hits and players can begin the Season of the Malignant.
We’ve got plenty of the information you need to kick off the season right, from Season One’s release date to how many seasons you can expect.

Diablo 4 – What carries over to seasons?
The following aspects will carry over to seasons in Diablo IV:
- Campaign Progress (including skip campaign)
- Map Progress (including waypoints)
- Renown Bonuses
- Transmogs
- Altars of Lilith Bonuses
- Fog of War
All of these progressions and rewards will carry over to the new season of Diablo so you won’t need to redo them when Season One begins.
In order to successfully bring them over to the season and your new seasonal character, on July 18 when the update hits and the season starts, make sure to log in to your character with the most progress to ensure a smooth transition.
Diablo 4 – What doesn’t carry over to seasons?
While you will be able to bring over most of your progress from the Eternal Realm to the seasonal realms, there are some things that won’t be brought over, including currencies, stashes, and any Aspects or items they’ve collected on their Eternal Realm character.
This is to ensure everyone is on even ground when it comes to collections when the new season begins, so you can skip a season and not miss out on vital progression.
The Season of the Malignant will feature a new questline that follows the defeat of Lilith in Sanctuary, where Malignant Monsters are beginning to cause corruption across the land. It’s up to you and the former priest of the Cathedral of Light, Cormond, to stop them.
Plenty of new mechanics and gameplay features, including Malignant Hearts, Malignant Tunnels, and a seasonal journey and battle pass progression will be included for a brand new adventure in the hellish world of Blizzard’s Diablo IV.
What progression carries over in Diablo seasons?
Diablo IV will have any map and campaign progress, Altar of Lilith and renown bonuses, and transmogs carry over to the new season in Diablo IV when they begin their seasonal journey.
What will not carry over to seasons in Diablo?
You will not be able to carry over any currency, stashes or Aspects to the new season when you begin. You will have to create a new seasonal character as well.
