The magic meter is something that doesn’t appear much throughout the Zelda series. The meter appeared in previous Zelda titles like Wind Waker, Adventure of Link, and Ocarina of Time. Of course, not all of the games have it. The meter was noticeably absent from Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is changing a lot about the Zelda franchise. It is bringing in new weapons and abilities that will drastically change Hyrule. Nintendo is going the extra mile for the game. Does this mean the magic meter will return in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Is the magic meter in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

No, there is no magic meter in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. There are some parts of the Zelda series that never change. You will always have Ganon, Zelda, and Link. Link will always save the day with the Master Sword. This time around, Link has a new ability called Recall that lets him rewind time.

Despite being shown Link’s new abilities, there hasn’t been mention of the magic meter in any of the trailers. Some fans believe that the meter might have already been shown in the form of the battery icon.

If you notice in the image above, there is a battery symbol shown on the makeshift boat. This isn’t guardian tech from BotW, this is Zonai tech and the charge in it is not magic.

Zonai Charge is a different object in the game but that doesn’t mean that magic won’t exist in Tears of the Kingdom. It could come in the form of a magical weapon or shield. You may even be able to purchase magical items with Rupees.

Just because we haven’t seen the magic meter appear in the trailers doesn’t mean that it won’t exist in the game. There is plenty that Nintendo hasn’t shown about the game prior to its release. One thing is for sure, sparks will fly as Link clashes with Demon King Ganon in Tears of the Kingdom.
