Borderlands series, and now by that extent Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands always had some elemental mechanics. It resulted in some elements to be powerful against a certain enemy type. For example fire is always good against flesh and shock against shields. So what are all the elements this time in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands?

There were some misses in the past like Slag, that was not the best element. It relied too much on debuffing your enemies and making them vulnerable which distorted the game’s balance on higher difficulties, OP levels and the endgame scaling.

Wonderlands – All Elements

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands changes things a bit. The Slag from Borderlands 2 does not make a return, same goes for Radiation from Borderlands 3 too. Every other element works similar to Borderlands 3 with one new addition. This time the final and exclusive element to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is Dark Magic.

There is normal damage which is kinetic damage. It is basically a non-elemental damage type by most of the weapons and sources in the game.

Elemental Types

  • Fire Damage – good against flesh (red bar)
  • Lightning Damage – good against ward (blue bar)
  • Poison Damage – good against armor (yellow bar)
  • Frost Damage – good against bones (white bar)
  • Dark Magic Damage – leeching health from enemies, lifesteal

So Fire is basically the same as the other Borderlands games. Lightning is a renamed Shock damage and ward are renamed shields from Borderlands 3. Poison is equivalent to a Corrosive damage type from the series, Frost is Cryo which slows enemies. This time it adds a bonus that if a target is frozen it will take bonus melee damage. Additionally, there is a new enemy health bar which is yellow. It means that the target is weak to Frost Damage.

Last but not least is the brand-new fifth element in Dark Magic. It is an awesome addition for survivability so if your character is heavy on the offense, and you lack this utility tool of healing up you can use a powerful Dark Magic weapon and heal! An awesome addition to the series in my opinion. I hope it stays in some form going forward with the franchise.
