The GeForce RTX 3070 launched on October 29th, 2020. So, there’s been a good amount of time between then and now to evaluate how it stand in today’s market. There are of course better GPUs out there these days, but that doesn’t stop the 3070 from being good in 2024.

Price will vary depending on retailer and manufacturer, which is to be expected of course. Given that the MSRP was $499 on release, it’s still hard to find a price which has reduced significantly below this, but it does now drop just below that level in some places. Despite that, the price to performance ratio is respectable given the specs.

The specs still of course can hold their own against modern AAA titles right now. This is especially the case if you aren’t looking to upgrade to a 4K monitor any time soon. You won’t have any problems running many games smoothly with the RTX 3070 – proving it’s still good for the majority of players.

RTX 3070 alternatives

Now with the 4070 on the way, many people will be asking if the RTX is still worth buying, or if the alternatives outclass it. If you want to stick with Nvidia, you can always take a look at the 3060 Ti as a step down – but with great performance for it’s price.

On the other hand, you can take a look at some AMD cards. The likes of the 6800 XT or 6700 XT are closely equivalent to the RTX 3070 and is well worth doing some research into.

If you really want to take advantage of the 40 series upgrades, it could be worth waiting around to see how the 4070 fairs in terms of price. Once it releases, it may directly affect the market value of the RTX 3070 to your benefit.
