Fitting in a new card is quite important for getting it into your case

One of the key aspects of the newer generation is its dimensions, so you may wonder about the RTX 4070 size. Ever since the RTX 4090 size was shown off at launch, it was quite a shock with just the size of it. And so with subsequent choices of graphics cards, it was always a worry when considering getting one of them.

The RTX 4070 spec has come out and the TBP has come out. So with the TBP of 200W dictating the size of the GPU cooling. And so with a power lower than the 3070, we don’t expect the card to be bigger than that. This has been shown off with the Founder’s Edition card, but still some of the custom cards seem to overbuild what is required.

With the release of the card, we get a good look at what the card has to offer. And the Nvidia Founder’s Edition card has a length of 244mm/9.6″, with a width of 112mm/4.4″. And the crucial thing is it only takes up a 2-slot width, so it is a much thinner choice over the other top-end options, giving it a more reasonable size.

However, the size of custom AIBs has altered what the size is over the range of options. As such the size may vary, so it might vary. So we give you a quick comparison of some of the options. These vary a lot and so it will depend on which one you go for.

Do you need a new PC case for a 4070?

With a small size, only two slots thick and not too long, you’re very unlikely to need a new case to fit the 4070. Unless you have an mATX case that is very small then you might constrain your GPU. But unless it’s one of the bigger custom models, it is highly unlikely.

That’s everything we can extrapolate when it comes to figuring out the size of the RTX 4070. We won’t know for certain until it’s officially released and/or announced – but there’s obviously a lot of information already out there to make an educated guess.

We don’t expect the RTX 4070 to be too much of a difference from the 4070 Ti, though there are always custom cards that vary in size to look out for if you’re in a particularly cramped PC build already.
