Computex is the home to all sorts of tech announcements and reveals, especially when it comes to PC hardware. On top of that though comes plenty of PC mods to marvel at – so we’ve put together our favorite in the 5 best PC mods at Computex 2023. We’re talking about custom cases and other neat modifications which bring out the best in creativity. It’s nice to be a practical PC as well.
We’ve already covered the Street Fighter 6 arcade cabinet mod – so let’s see what else we’ve seen around Computex in Taipei this year. We spotted a ton of creatives at work over at the convention, so let’s talk you through some of the finest craftmanship on show so far.
Our favorite PC mods from Computex 2023 – top 5 picks
Time you take you through our pick of the bunch PC mods from Computex this year. It’s hard to pick favorites when there is so many beautiful designs and creations out there. Amazingly, we’ve seen designs from slot machines to traditional-style houses, which equally serve as a home for your PC components. In no particular order, let’s take a quick look.
AKMod sci-fi mod with temperature display & more
The first thing we want to show off is just what you want if you’re a nerd for data. This custom mod features a panel on the front of the PC tower which displays all kinds of information, seemingly in real time. Aside from a quick check on how your PC is doing, we’re not surprised that you want to show off your specs when there’s a RTX 4080 on board.
There’s much more to the build than just that though, as the sci-fi design is certainly something to appreciate, especially with the chunky add-ons either side of the tower. See more of the full build here.
Steampunk CU Century Engine from Mark’s Fabrication
Now we’re heading in a total different direction in terms of genre & era. From sci-fi to Victorian. Steampunk is a fan favorite, and this design is nothing less than impressive. It may look like it’s running on fumes, but it’s packed with KLEVV RAM and more.
The Facebook post also mentions a 13th Gen Intel Core processor. The apparent contrast between the materials certainly makes this particular piece stand out, and it’s actually finished with a metallic texture.
Raijintek traditional house design
Moving on to something which reflects the location of Computex, as it’s 2023 edition is taking place in Taiwan. This beautiful design really nails the theme, and the shutter windows open up to give us a full view of the components included. Unfortunately we couldn’t source the full specs of this rig, but we can spot some G.Skill-branded RAM included.
The quality here is definitely impressive. It’s well crafted and almost forms the centerpiece for this area of the convention floor. No wonder there’s a sign warning you not to touch.
OCPC’s Healing Angel
This has to be one of our favorite designs so far. It’s nice when you transform something like a PC case into a little character. Of course it’s a robotic medic. This particular PC mod actually seems fairly practical too, as it doesn’t really occupy as much space as some as our other choices so far.
As for the specs though, we don’t really know much about it. The back of the device does feature all the familiar motherboard ports and graphics card I/O to make use of as normal.
Beer dispenser and slot machine from G.Skill
We’re going to give you a two for one here, bringing the total up to six PC mods. We just thought that these two ought to go hand in hand. If you’re going to test your luck on a slot machine, you may as well have a drink or two while you’re at it. We can see the specs on board the beer dispenser PC mod, including an Intel Core i7-13700 CPU and 32GB of G.Skill RGB DDR5 RAM.
These two are definitely out there if you’re looking for something a little more functional (as a PC), but they just show off what kind of modifications we can look forward to every year at Computex.
