Just when AMD’s GPU lineup seemed to be doomed with barely any good competition to Nvidia’s large collection. But that is changing with Radeon finally getting the mid to top-tier selection that has been the best choice in previous generations. The RX 7800 XT and 7700 XT were finally announced at Gamescom 2023.
After plenty of leaks and rumors about the release of the cards, the day finally came when it was official with all the information provided. Both are aiming for 1440p performance as more and more gamers move towards improved quality and higher refresh rates. Along with the GPUs, there are some software updates that we’ve been looking forward to, so let’s see what the potential best GPUs have to offer.

Here we have a comparison of the specs of the cards compared to the rest of the RDNA 3 lineup. It shows that the Navi 32 chip is quite a bit more cut down than the Navi 31 processor. With the count of stream processors and compute units significantly down from the RX 7900 XTX. That does solidify the two new ones as the 1440p options compared to the top flagships that are more than 4K capable.
They do keep up the VRAM count and bandwidth of the cards that more recent releases on the lower end have been scrutinized for. This should give it a good run in the long term with games coming out with heavier textures. The TBP is lower, although higher compared to the Nvidia alternative such as the RTX 4070.
The graphics cards have also been equipped with AV1 capabilities. Along with performance improvements in AI with 2x over the last gen. You can expect these cards to come out on September 6th and as of writing for an unknown price. But you will also be able to grab Starfield along with the cards included in the partnership.
FSR 3 and HYPR-RX
As the games including FSR expanded, the new generation of it was announced alongside the current generation of GPUs. But since then no release date for FSR 3 was announced but now we have some potential news. The new tech is going to be included in Immortals of Aveum and Forspoken in an upcoming patch.
Along with future inclusions from Avatar, Cyberpunk, Space Marine, Frostpunk 2, Alters, Squad, Starship Troopers, Wukong Crimson Desert, and Like a Dragon. This does provide some hope for seeing the improved upscaler coming relatively soon, with Starfield a likely candidate down the line.
HYPR-RX also finally gets its debut. The one-click optimizer is for Adrenalin and does offer maximum performance out of it. It includes Radeon Boost, Anti-Lag+, Super Resolution, and Fluid Motion Frames. This promises tens of FPS increases and improvements but that will be seen when tested.
