Larian Studios, the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 currently only have the game releasing on PC and PS5, making fans question if it was exclusive to only those platforms and wouldn’t be available on any others anytime soon. However, that seems to not be the case.

The good news to Xbox Series X/S players is that the developers are not wanting the game to be exclusive to only PC or PS5, they wanted to release it across platforms including making sure it was Steam Deck verified as well. But it seems the reason that Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t getting a Xbox release yet is because the Xbox Sries S hasn’t shown it will be able to run the game’s split-screen co-op mode like it would on the Series X or obviously the PS5. This is why it is now delayed for the Xbox console.

Developers hope to have a Xbox release for BG3 before the end of the year

Microsoft doesn’t allow developers to send the game to Xbox Series X without it being available on Xbox Series S as well, so they do allow companies to scale down their games some, but it won’t fix the issue with Baldur’s Gate 3. Very AFK, who is the director of publishing for Larian Studios, shared on Twitter more information requiring this difficultie they are experiencing.

They went on to share that the game is far from being exclusive, but that this issue is the only thing standing in their way from launching the game on Xbox, and right now they are wanting to have it fixed by the end of the year is what they are hoping. But for now, the game won’t be available on Xbox.

Players in the comments of the tweets are expressing to them how they might should just drop co-op, which we don’t know how easy or possible that is for them, but it would fix the issue to have the game on Xbox though. For now, players can expect an update hopefully later this year.
