Initially released to OEMs only, the RX 6400 is now coming to the custom market as reported by Videocardz. It was released alongside the RX 6500 XT in an underwhelming fashion to most gamers. It isn’t exactly the most powerful card and is unlikely to be a choice for anyone wanting to do any hard work on the hardware as it is lacking in what it offers.

Although at first the graphics card was only released to OEMs it seems AMD might have changed its mind and given the board to custom partners. This comes from a certification status from the National Radio Research Agency in South Korea. Which approved Gigabytes RX 6400 Eagle card.

When are the custom RX 6400 GPUs coming?

The RX 6400 may be coming alongside the new Ryzen CPUs in the 5600 or 5700X in a Spring refresh possibly to fight back Intel’s new 12th gen collection. These are meant to come on the 20th of April, so even though the 6400 hasn’t been officially announced it could be a good time. This may be another selection from the apparent upcoming refresh with the supposed 6950XT, 6750XT, and 6650XT.

Although not directly comparable to some gaming GPUs the 6400 may offer a simple and cheap offer for simple builds and users. It is also a low profile card so can be used in more compact builds that may just need to be tucked away and only used as a simple display, especially with the low specs of the card. Now a custom solution will offer an easier way of getting your hands on one without a whole setup. A possible fight against the upcoming Intel ARC Alchemist GPUs.
