After years of waiting, we are finally getting Dead Island 2. While many fans were ready to call Riptide the sequel and ending to the Dead Island franchise, it has been brought back from the dead with its release. Since it has been in the works for so long, fans are curious if it will support the previous generation of consoles or now, particularly the PS4. Let’s go over if Dead Island 2 will be coming out for PS4 or not,
Will Dead Island 2 Be available On PS4?
With the news that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is leaving the previous generation of consoles behind, many fans are worried that Dead Island 2 will do the same. Luckily, PS4 owners will still be able to play Dead Island 2 on their system.
This is quite odd for the older generation of consoles to be covered by Dead Island 2 but for there to not be a Game Pass release of the game as well. But we could still see one coming down the line as there has been no word from the devs about it.
Since Dead Island 2 was in development for so long, it makes sense that there are still PS4 builds of the game kicking around. While there might be some cut features on the older generation of consoles, the majority of the game will still be playable on the PS4.
Since the game is available on PS4, fans are hopeful that Cross-Play will also be a feature coming with Dead Island 2. Being able to play with friends from the PS4 on your PS5 will be quite nice as not everyone will be able to be on the same console at the moment.
Regardless of what features Dead Island ships with, not having to run out and buy a PS5 to play it on is a nice gesture to PS4 owners that have been waiting on the sequel since the release of the original Dead Island.
