Back at CES 2024, LG announced their committed to five years of webOS updates, starting with their 2022 models. The LG C2 OLED TV falls into this category, and people are finally now getting a prompt to update to webOS 23. Some users have previously been running a beta version ahead of time.

We’ve been a fan if the LG C2 OLED ever since we reviewed it, and it continues to be a top-tier display for a wide range of users – including PC gamers. Even though we’ve just seen the launch of the 2024 C4 model, this operating system upgrade is vital to keep the C2 feeling fresh.

webOS 23 finally coming to 2022 models

We recently touched on the fact that the popular LG C2 OLED TV is still relevant in 2024 thanks to LG’s promise of upgrading all 2022 models (or newer) as part of their five years of OS upgrades. The upgrade from webOS 22 to webOS 23 is the start of this.

The time has come to update, though not every single region has been prompted just yet. We just came across this Reddit thread which shows that the upgrade is now available in Malaysia at the very least. One thing to remember though is that the newest C4 will instead be running on webOS 24, so that’s the next step in the process for older models.

What does webOS 23 change?

There are several upgrades that separate webOS 22 and 23. Just like with any operating system update, there are new features and general improvements across the board. The first thing you’ll notice is a different look which aims to give you quicker access to content you use the most.

The Quick Menu is now a place to quickly change settings such as your picture mode and sound ouput. This quick and easy customization comes thanks to the new Quick Cards feature to help organize your space on the home screen.

webOS 23 also introduced support to Matter, a Smart Home protocol which allows you to control smart devices in your home from your TV.
