Probably best to wait a month or so

LG’s 2024 range of OLED TVs are more or less here, with widespread availability just around the corner. We saw C4 and G4 pre orders going live a couple of weeks ago, with the B4 joining just recently to make for the full 4K OLED range outside of the flagship wireless M4. However, a price rise across many models compared to last year is not so inviting.

We recently reported on the fact that all but one size is now listed on Amazon for the C4 and G4, though the entry-level B4 has started to join them too. While we expect places like the LG store to list at max price, Amazon undercuts this, but not quite enough – with consumers understandably labeling them overpriced.

2024 LG OLED TVs are more expensive than last year

This Reddit thread captures the immediate reaction from LG OLED fans, and they aren’t exactly impressed. As we compared models like the C3 vs C4 and G4 vs G3, we too noticed that the launch prices have been bumped up, by $100 for the majority of sizes. That’s just on the LG store, which at least benefits from some pre order bonuses.

Over on Amazon is where you’d usually find the best prices, but as user u/SheepherderFit69 eloquently puts it, they’re ‘all crazy overpriced’. A difference of a few hundred dollars more expensive than 2023’s line-up at launch may make them a hard sell.

It’s at least proven to be a good a conversation starter for people that want to talk about how great of a deal they got on their G3 or C3.

Are they still worth buying?

Unless you’re keen to upgrade to the latest generation as soon as possible, it’s probably worth waiting a few weeks to see if the Amazon pricing is changed at all. On top of that, we’re yet to see what Best Buy have to say. These displays will no doubt be included on the list of the best OLED TVs this year, but the value for money isn’t there quite yet for most.
