Rainbow Six Siege DLSS Support means potentially huge performance gains for 4K gaming, though there are some requirements to get this level of performance yourself.

Below you can see a comparison of Rainbow Six Siege at 4K with DLSS turned off vs DLSS turned on as supplied by Nvidia.

Obviously, any performance claims by the manufacture should be taken with a pinch of salt but if the performance uplift can even approach these figures then it is very impressive indeed.

What Is DLSS?

Deep Learning Super Sampling or DLSS for short, is a magical technology from Nvidia which uses artificial intelligence (specifically the Tensor Core AI processors) to upscale the visual quality in games without putting as much strain on the hardware, thereby improving the FPS performance.

It is particularly useful for higher resolution gameplay – especially 4K gaming – and gives Nvidia an edge over AMD Radeon graphics cards at this resolution.

How To Enable DLSS In Rainbow Six Siege

DLSS can be turned on in the video settings of the game as per usual, however to get the 50% performance increase that Nvidia claims you’ll need to do two things:

  1. Ensure that the API you have installed and are using is Vulkan and not DirectX
  2. Make sure Performance Mode is selected from within the Nvidia control panel.
