OLED monitors are only increasing in popularity as the technology becomes more mainstream, and in turn more affordable. That being said, the best OLED gaming monitors are still going to cost you a pretty penny, but one Reddit user predicts that prices will soon drop given the large increase in competition.
Many people like to sit out the initial wave of new technology, as early adopters will be paying a hefty sum for the latest and greatest. At the same time, this doesn’t stop popular displays from selling out as those with enough cash to throw around simply have no worries. This Reddit post sort of has the mentality of somewhere in the middle – wanting the latest, but not willing to pay full price for it.

There’s a lot of OLED monitor competition this year
It is true that many OLED monitors are coming (or have already released) in 2024. The latest advancement is the upgrade to high-spec 240Hz 4K and 360Hz 1440p displays which at the moment give you some of the very best visuals and gaming performance on the market.
Reddit user u/ScarcityHopeful1618 gives the Gigabyte AORUS FO27Q3 as recent example, theorizing that it’s lower pricing has forced Dell to discount their own 2024 Alienware OLEDs, which were the first to launch back in January. We also saw MSI making QD-OLEDs affordable this year, with some competitive prices of their own.
You may want to wait for prices to drop
As we alluded to above, pricing is getting increasingly competitive as we make our way through the year. Dell set the bar high with the AW3225QF and AW2725DF at $1,199 and $899 respectively, but other brands are undercutting them by $100 or so, but there’s much more to come.
Now that more of these high-spec OLEDs are slowly entering the market, price drops are bound to occur. There are going to be plenty of displays fighting for your attention, not to mention that big names like the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6, G8, and G9 are still to come.
