The highly-anticipated space-adventure game Starfield has been delayed (again) until September 6th 2023. This was announced by Bethesda, the gaming studio of Fallout and Skyrim fame, today, March 8th, in a short video on social media. A Starfield Direct will take place on June 11th providing us with more information was also confirmed.
This news was broadly announced via Bethesda, and they advised fans to “Mark your calendars…” for the upcoming Starfield dedicated showcase. This promises to give a “deep dive” into the development of the title thus far. It could very well be one of the last major looks at the game before it releases this fall.
This is not Starfield’s first delay, of course. Following an initial delay in 2022 which saw both Redfall and Starfield pushed back into ‘early 2023’ by Bethesda Softworks, this moves the game back further in Microsoft’s release calendar.
Game Director, Todd Howard had some words at the end of the Official Launch Date Announcement too which provide more context:
Howard goes on to thank fans for their continued “support” and “excitement about the game”, signing off with how they “can’t wait for you all to play it”, and that they’ll see us soon – presumably at the Starfield Direct on June 11th.
