What might be one of the big features missing from the game is Nvidia’s upscaling technology. As such a big game running on a new engine, it does take some processing power to run. Even though AMD’s own tech is in there, many want something more unique, and as such Bethesda confirms it’s working on DLSS support on PC for the game.

Now following the day one patch, Starfield has received its second update. It is a rather small update with some fixes and improvements to quests and stability, but more importantly the promise of regular updates with the communities most requested features. That includes DLSS support and more settings support.

Starfield DLSS addition

Plenty of gamers already speculated about the lack of support for the tech even before the game launched when AMD was announced as the exclusive partner for Starfield. Even then the companies said there was nothing holding back the addition of other technologies, it might have just been the fact there were other priorities rather than adding more upscaling tech.

Now even during the preload, mod support for DLSS was promised. Pure Dark provided the addon not long after the launch of the game. On the launch, it took a day or two for the modder to provide the files, even if the frame generation addition meant DRM and a Patreon donation. Even then it still became one of the best mods for Starfield available.

There were even more graphics driver updates to get a better performance as Bethesda is also working with the teams to improve how it plays. This is ideal for those with Intel Arc cards who struggled more recently with how they handled the game. So now those with Nvidia GPUs can look forward to the game natively supporting the popular upscaler and getting a much better framerate.
