Looking for the best budget GPU right now? Well, the RTX 4070 Ti isn’t quite that but it comes closer to it now that we’ve spotted some generous price cuts to the 1440p and 4K-capable graphics card. We take a look at how the new Super launch has affected the price of the original.

This news comes not too long after the RTX 4070 Ti Super was launched by Nvidia. If you’re interested in the new Super card, see our dedicated where to buy RTX 4070 Ti Super guide, but here we’re going to focus on some much-need price cuts for the ‘vanilla’ card.

RTX 4070 Ti price drops spotted

A number of places are seeing discounts for the RTX 4070 Ti, including Amazon and Newegg. So, if you’re looking to save some cash when upgrading your GPU, then the RTX 4070 Ti is a good value choice given the reduced cost. If you can find a Super for a similar price though, then we’d definitely recommend that instead!

At Newegg, the MSI Ventus 2X model is up to $50 off (including a promo code), while the MSI Ventus 3X model is a clean $80 off at Amazon at the time of writing.

Is the RTX 4070 Ti still worth buying?

In our RTX 4070 Ti review we discuss the impressive power of this GPU, with in-house benchmarks returning some impressive stats. The card works tremendously well in 1440p and is a solid performer at 4K, depending on the game in question of course. For example, it could average a massive 130 FPS at 4K with ray tracing turned on in Doom Eternal. More demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077 of course take a hit though, where raw 4K performance without ray tracing averages 49 FPS.

There is the problem of the Super coming along to basically make the originally obsolete. However, with price drops now appearing online, it can still be worth picking up the 4070 Ti for the right price. We also reviewed the RTX 4070 Ti Super and found good performance boosts, but the current lack of discounts for this new refreshed card may turn some buyers away.
