The Nvidia company states that “the latest advances made possible by faster computing and artificial intelligence” as it confirms it will be speaking at CES 2023.
Even if that’s already fascinating, the early arrival of the next-generation RTX 4070 Ti leaks in early January indicates it’ll probably also feature the unveiling of the brand-new RTX 4000 series graphics card.
There may be new mobile GPU announcements that will most likely be found in any new laptops that come out of the expo.
What was announced
Nvidia did in fact host its CES presentation on January 3rd. And there were just a few announcements that may be of interest to us.
Firstly, it did reveal the RTX 4070 Ti and show its release date is on the 5th. Just shortly after the announcement.
Even though it did announce the price, there is no Founder’s Edition model. This means all the partner models are unlikely to hold to that price.
Nvidia also announced its Ada laptops. With a whole range of GPUs featuring 4090, 4080, 4070, 4060, and 4050. So even more GPUs that are not been announced as of yet for desktop cards.
In particular, the RTX 4070 release date is the one to look out for. With promises of much better rendering and performance.
Expected announcements
Who knows if NVIDIA has been preparing to introduce a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti at CES all along, but the moment it seemed obvious was when the GPU manufacturer unlaunched the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB model.
NVIDIA made a choice in response to criticism from fans who claimed that the 12GB version of the GeForce RTX 4080 was a condensed version of the 16GB model, with less memory in addition to fewer CUDA cores and a smaller bus width.
The unreleased 12GB GeForce RTX 4070 Ti has been compared to the AMD 7900 XTX in numerous leaks and rumors, and more recently, it has even been shown in a retail listing for the same price.
It will be fascinating to see if AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX truly competes with NVIDIA’s next card, which is expected to launch with an $899 MSRP, or if NVIDIA chooses to launch with a lower price point. We’ll discover it in due time.
NVIDIA is just as likely to introduce its initial portfolio of GeForce RTX 40 series mobile GPUs based on Ada Lovelace in addition to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. A new HP Omen 17 gaming laptop with numerous mobile GeForce RTX 40 series choices (4090, 4080, 4070, and 4060) was unveiled earlier this month. And a mobile GeForce RTX 4050 GPU was seen in a Samsung Galaxy Book Pro last month.
Therefore, if we had to make a guess, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti for the desktop and a few Ada Lovelace-based laptop GPUs would be the main announcements.
A surprise of some kind could potentially be in store for us. It wouldn’t surprise us if NVIDIA revealed additional titles supporting DLSS 3 in addition to those hardware components. For instance, NVIDIA debuted the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti at the CES event last year.
