With the ASUS ROG Ally hitting the shelves, the gaming handheld market just got a whole lot more interesting, giving the Valve Steam Deck a run for its money. This miniature gaming PC runs on the Windows 11 operating system and supports some of your favorite Blizzard and Steam games, plus many more. Remember, the ASUS ROG Ally is compatible with games that run on Win 11/ 10, however, whether they are playable or not is another question altogether.

Yes, you can play Diablo 4 on the ASUS ROG Ally

The ASUS ROG Ally is powered by the Ryzen Extreme Z1 processor, technically making the Ally a handheld gaming PC. Taking a look at ETA Primes benchmark of the ASUS ROG Ally on Diablo 4, it showed us there is some great potential in this device. Diablo 4 is very playable while playing in performance mode, with low settings, at 720p, and RSR switched on. RSR makes the ASUS ROG Ally think it is running the game at 720p, however, its upscaled to look like 1080p. Using these settings you can expect a frame rate somewhere around 70-80 when out doors and 75-85 FPS indoors. This gives users a bit of wiggle room to enhance settings further while playing Diablo 4, maybe even in medium, however don’t forget about those chaotic moments that can potentially eat more FPS than expected. You can expect a slight dip in performance when lowering the TDP to around 15 watts.

*Tweaking your TDP in Armoury Crate SE can also have an impact on performance and battery life*

There is always a chance in the future, with further optimization and upgrades from ASUS that performance may increase. For the time being though, Diablo 4 is playable on the ASUS ROG Ally console over 60 FPS. The minimum system requirements for Diablo 4 are fairly accessible, meaning gameplay can be enjoyed with relatively acceptable frames too. We await further benchmarks to fully access the ASUS ROG Ally performance in depth.
