With a new season of Apex Legends on the way, Season 18, fans are more than ready to begin work on the new battle pass. It means more cosmetics and rewards to earn as they grind through gameplay.
As soon as the update for the next season hits, the battle pass will be ready to go. You can play through the game to earn music packs, loading screens, and more in Season 18.
But, can you expect the battle pass to be free to earn those rewards? Is the Apex Legends battle pass free? We’re here to tell you.
Is the Battle Pass for Apex Legends free?
No, the battle pass for all Apex Legends seasons is not free to unlock. While there are still rewards even if you don’t purchase the battle pass, the exclusive loot from the battle pass will cost you money to unlock.
There are two types of battle passes in Apex Legends, that can be purchased using the in-game currency called Apex Coins:
- Premium Battle Pass (950 Apex Coins)
- Premium Battle Pass Bundle (2,800 Apex Coins)
Apex Coins cost real money and can be purchased in-game. 1,000 Apex Coins cost $10 USD, making the battle pass about $10 to purchase.
The Battle Pass Bundle lets you skip tiers to earn the premium rewards faster, however, both battle passes let you earn the exclusive weapon skins, badges, and more that are included in them. They are available to be purchased in the in-game store.
Can you earn the Apex Legends Battle Pass for free?
The battle pass system also offers Apex Coins as rewards in the various tiers. However, this is only 250 Apex Coins per battle pass. This is not going to be enough to buy another battle pass, however, if you store them up over multiple seasons, you can earn enough to get the battle pass for the next Apex Legends season without spending any more money. If you don’t spend any Apex Coins for four seasons while completing the battle pass each time, you can get a pass for free.
The battle pass is not the only way to earn cosmetics in the game, as there are Apex Packs to gather for cosmetics as well and act as the game’s loot box system. These won’t contain the items from the battle pass, and Legendary and Epic boxes are only found in the store, but they will still give you plenty of ways to decorate your character.
