Apple Vision Pro has officially been announced – and now launched, but what about it’s gaming potential? Well, we take you through the current Apple Vision Pro games list that we know of so far set to come out. Apple’s VR headset isn’t as gaming-focused as many alternatives, a damper if you’re solely interested in games, but there are some interesting points to talk about already.

When it comes to gaming with Apple, they have generally targeted the casual gamers out there – especially mobile gaming on iOS or iPadOS. The Vision Pro’s visionOS is following in their footsteps, but there are some additional details which can help boost it’s potential.

Apple Vision Pro games list so far & plans

From the initial launch, Apple revealed that the Apple Vision Pro will be home to over 100 games, which are currently found on the iPad and/or iPhone. Basically, this means that their collection of Apple Arcade games can be played on Apple Vision Pro if compatible. One example is NBA 2K23 Arcade Edition, which they demonstrated in their keynote.

As for controls, you’ll be able to use Bluetooth game controllers to connect to your Apple Vision Pro, such as a PS5 controller.

  • Over 100 games from Apple Arcade, such as NBA 2K23. Candy Crush Saga and Rec Room were among others briefly seen while scrolling through the App Store interface.
  • Future compatibility with Unity games natively, with full access to visionOS features and gestures.
  • “Hundreds of thousands of iPad and iPhone apps” are available on Vision Pro at launch, including games which make up the Apple Arcade.

As you can see, gaming is currently focused around the Apple Arcade. At the moment, Apple Arcade is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, and Apple TV – so now the Vision Pro has joined them. The benefit of VR here though is that spatial computing can provide more immersion, which is something we hope to see game developers take advantage of.

Can I play Mac games on the Apple Vision Pro?

As the Apple Vision Pro is designed to be compatible with Apple devices, will this mean you’ll be able to play Mac games through your Apple Vision Pro? Well, the headset can connect wirelessly to your Mac, allowing you to take over the desktop. There are VR games out there supported by macOS, including Psychonauts 2. From what we can see though, playing Mac games through your Apple Vision Pro is simply in a desktop-like view, rather than in full 3D VR, which is where it will differ from something like the PSVR2. Still a unique experience regardless and be sure to check out VideoGamer’s best Apple Arcade games for Mac page if you’re interested.

During the keynote, Apple also revealed that they are releasing a ‘Game Porting Toolkit’ that make it easier for game developers to port games to Mac from other platforms. This led to the reveal that Death Stranding: Directors Cut is coming to macOS, thanks to these tools. They also show off the new ‘Game Mode’ to boost performance and reduce input lag over Bluetooth as much as possible.
