As you progress through Baldur’s Gate 3, you must do some animal handling before opening a Gilded Chest. Once at the cave entrance, you will find an underground passage in which you must face a Mama Owlbear head-on and have a chance to obtain some loot.

During your travels, you will meet many companions with varying backstories. Some can assist you greatly, while others will disapprove of your choices. But you may be more interested in the loot in the Cragged Rocks. This guide will detail how to open the Gilded Chest in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 – How to unlock the Gilded Chest

To open the Gilded Chest, you must find the Selunite Prayer Sheet in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can find the Gilded Chest and Selunite Prayer Sheet in The Owlbear Nest can be located between Druid Grove and Blighted Village. However, be careful; you will find a fiercesome Owlbear and her precious Owlbear Cub within the cave.

  1. To open the Gilded Chest, use the Jump action to get to the stone statue
  2. Now, go to the back of the Selune statue and use the Perception check
  3. You will then find the Selunite Prayer Sheet in a small nook at the back of the cave
  4. Once you pick it up, your character will do a Religion check
  5. Pick up the Prayer Sheet
  6. Go back to the Gilded Chest in the middle of the cave
  7. Open your inventoryselect the item, and read it in front of the Chest
  8. The Gilded Chest will now unlock

Once you have opened the Gilded Chest in Baldur’s Gate 3, it has an assortment of items and will give you the following rewards:

  • Idol of Selune
  • Silver Necklace
  • Bloodstone

Ensure you use companions like Lae’zel, who can easily open the Gilded Chest of Selune and perform the Religion check.

When performing a Religion check, it is a possibility that the companion performing it may fail this check. If you use Shadowheart, the cleric’s patron deity is Shar. You will automatically fail this skill check, as Shadowheart will not open this Chest. The same will go for Astarion, as his opinion of you will be lower.
