In the past 10 years, the CSGO marketplace has grown a great deal. With businesses growing around it with the great range of cases and skins available. And now you might be worried, but don’t fret Counter Strike 2 skins will carry over from CSGO.

This has been confirmed by Valve itself on its main FAQ page on the new game. And it does mean you’re not going to lose any of those expensive skins you’ve been acquiring and admiring in the game.

This also applies to the rest of the inventory items in CSGO as well. So nothing will change in that department except you get to appreciate those skins and textures in a new engine.

New lighting and textures of skins

As the game ports to Source Engine 2, there is a load of new graphical fidelity to take advantage though. Even when you’re playing on 800p and stretched for the competitive advantage, there still are some differences.

It is a huge difference in what is available, especially compared to the original Source engine. And so we can see the increase in fidelity and quality of the visuals in the whole game.

The main talking points are the change to smokes and nades, and changing the meta of the game with volumetric filling. But the sounds and lightning are also improving and so that applies to the skins and inventory.

The Counter-Strike 2 beta is limited to not many users, with an invite in CSGO. But still, that hasn’t limited users in the test streaming and showing off what it has to offer.

In these videos and screenshots, we can see the new look of the game. The maps have been overhauled to look and feel of the game and that applies to the skins as well.

With the fresh lighting, the skins look a lot brighter and stand out more compared to the previous version. The textures will also have been updated to fit in with the new look.

This will likely mean every scratch and blemish on the skin will stand out and might not be up to snuff as you want it to be as that’s likely to stand out. Whilst the shiny expensive skins are even more vibrant to be great to look at.

Can I use my CS:GO inventory items in Counter-Strike 2?

Yes, all of your CSGO inventory will be moved to Counter-Strike 2 so you can use it in the new engine. This includes weapon finishes, stickers, sprays, agents, etc.

Whilst still in the testing phase, there may still be bugs but Valve says to report those as that should not be the case. Especially, as Valve benefits from any trading and skin sales, it would be detrimental for them to reset that situation when they want to make the port as smooth as possible.

Can I modify my inventory items during the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test?

At the moment during the testing period, items cannot be altered in the new Limited Test. Applying, scraping stickers, and trade-ups are not possible in the new version currently.

If you do want to change anything during the test, you have to revert back to CSGO and then back to complete the changes.
