Diablo IV from Blizzard includes an entire world to discover with the bleak world of Sanctuary. Throughout your journey to defeat Lilith, you’ll find plenty to do as you discover the map and complete the main storyline, including the Salt Begets Salt side quest.
There are strongholds to defeat, dungeons to conquer, and a myriad of side quests to complete. While most quests, both storyline and side, are pretty easy to finish, some require more guidance. Quests like The Way of the Three quest and A Prayer for Salvation quest may stump you, and you’ll need help to finish them.

How to find Salt Begets Salt quest in Diablo IV
The Salt Begets Salt quest can be found in Jirandai, in the Untamed Scarps area of the Dry Steppes region. This is where you’ll find Jargal, the NPC who gives you the quest. We’ve marked out his location on the map below for ease. Feel free to use the Jirandai waypoint to reach it faster.
Speaking to him will reveal that a jealous merchant stole his goat, Tuji. It’s the objective of the quest to find Tuji and return him to Jargal. Jargal will tell you that the merchant that took his beloved goat, Gan, was heading toward Qara Yisu. This is where you’ll need to head towards.
How to find Tuji in Diablo 4
We’ve marked out the exact point you’ll need to head to in order to follow Jargal’s cryptic instructions and find the goat Tuji on the map below, near the Ruins of Qara Yisu waypoint. If you have the waypoint unlocked, you can simply fast travel to it.
The biggest problem you’ll face during this quest is the fact that you’ll be in the Ruins of Qara Yisu stronghold, filled with demons and cursed villagers. You don’t need to have completed the stronghold in order to complete Salt Begets Salt, but it will make it easier. Sadly, the quest item of Tuji’s body and the thief Gan’s corpse can be found amongst the rubble. Once you’ve found the body of Tuji, all you need to do is:
- Interact with Tuji’s body
- Bring the remains back to Jargal and give him the sad news of Tuji’s fate
This will complete the quest, in which you’ll be given rewards like a salvage cache, as well as some Gold and experience. The quality of the loot is standard for side quests like this one, so no Legendary items like weapons or armor, but still worth getting.
As mentioned above, you don’t need to have beaten the Ruins of Qara Yisu stronghold to complete the quest, but not only will you gain Renown for having it done, but this is also what unlocks the waypoint to get there quicker. It won’t hurt to complete it while you’re in the region to help raise your character’s current level and give a big hit to the monsters that lurk on the overworld.
