The very first season of Diablo IV is finally upon us, the Season of the Malignant. Blizzard kept quiet about the season until the developer livestream that took place on July 6, but now the wait is over.

There are new gameplay mechanics to enjoy, such as the Malignant Hearts and Malignant Monsters, and new bosses and enemies to encounter. There is even a battle pass for players to complete as they progress, earning them extra loot and cosmetics.

With so much to do, is there time to do the main campaign in Diablo IV on your new characters in the Seasonal Realm? Should you skip the campaign for Diablo IV Season One? We’ve got the answer for you.

Diablo 4 – Should you skip the campaign for Season 1?

Yes, you should absolutely skip the campaign for Season 1 when making your new seasonal character. There is no benefit to completing the main campaign again, and you won’t even be able to access the new seasonal content and quests until the storyline is complete, and Lilith is defeated.

All classes of characters are able to skip the campaign, including Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer. It’s easy to skip the campaign on your new seasonal character, in the character creation screen, simply:

  • Find the Skip Campaign option on the right side of the screen, under World Tier
  • Select the option

Note that you have to beat the campaign once in the Eternal Realm already to unlock this option. If you haven’t done so by the start of Season One, that should be your priority.

Skipping the entire main campaign of Diablo IV means you can immediately begin hunting the Malignant and helping Cormond stop the plague that’s infecting Sanctuary in the seasonal quests and season journey.

There’s no penalty for not skipping the campaign besides not being able to access the content for the new Season of the Malignant right away, but it will take up a lot of time to complete all the acts and defeat Lilith again.

You won’t receive that much in terms of experience or random drops, and there is better loot, and all of your renown, Altars of Lilith, and map exploration is carried over from your furthest Eternal Realm character. Season One will not be around forever, and if you want to truly dive deep into the new content, it’s best to skip the main campaign.
