It was another stellar season for the ‘Egyptian King’ last season. He helped Liverpool reach the Champions League Final, where they just missed out on the trophy. They also pushed Manchester City for the title until the final day of season, as well as picking up both domestic cups along the way. At international level, Salah was crucial in Egypt reaching The AFCON final in January.

On a more personal note he also picked up the Premier League Golden Boot for the third time. Salah is pivotal to the way Liverpool play, he will no doubt be one of the stand out players in FIFA 23 and a must have for any Ultimate Team player.

Next season there could be even more pressure on him too, as teammate Sadio Mane has left for German champions Bayern Munich. Salah has also just committed his long-term future to Liverpool extending his deal by three years.

Below we will take a look at if Salah has done enough to get his rating back up for FIFA 23, after it was unfairly dropped for FIFA 22.

Overall Rating 91 (+2)

Bumping Salah by two overalls may seem a bit generous for FIFA 23, especially after they dropped him down to 89.

However, this rating boost is partly a reflection of him having an amazing campaign, even by his own standards, and then correcting the downgrade he received. He played 51 games for his club last season, scoring 31 goals and picking up 16 assists.

Salah is one of the most dangerous forwards on the planet and he consistently does it against the best sides. The goal he scored against Manchester City last season, is testament to just how good he is. After such a good season FIFA 23 will give him a ratings bump, especially when they consider how far Liverpool went in all the competitions they competed in.

If Liverpool had won the Champions league, there would have been an argument for him winning the Ballon d’Or, that’s just how good he is.

Pace 92 (+2)

Salah is lighting quick, constantly threatening to get in behind defences. It helps that he has players who are so good at picking him out, but can keep up with anyone in the modern game.

His pace was already incredibly high so there is a chance it may not be boosted, but after such a good season it’s likely FIFA will give him a pace boost just to highlight his quality. If FIFA 23 is anything like previous games, the quicker you are the harder you are to play against, and that should be the case for Salah in FIFA 23

Shooting 89 (+2)

When you score as many goals as Salah, your shooting on your card should highlight that. They may only be minor boosts to each stat as his finishing is already outrageous, but his conversion rate from the spot is much better than his card would suggest.

He has scored 18 out of 20 penalties in the Premier League since he joined Liverpool, so 86 penalties seems a little low. Since xG was introduced he has outperformed it every season and after such a strong individual campaign, his card on FIFA 23, should have a slight finishing boost too.

Passing 82 (+1)

A small boost to Salah’s passing seems likely going into the new game. It isn’t a huge part of his game, as he plays less like a traditional winger and more as a wide forward, yet he still racked up a healthy number of assists last season for Liverpool.

Salah is also not his club’s freekick taker so it’s unlikely this stat will get a boosted. However, when a player has a good year FIFA will give most stats a little bump.

Dribbling 92 (+2)

Salah has this ability to slalom through defences, ride challenges and eventually get a shot on goal, in a way no one else can right now. Messi played deeper last season so we saw less of this in his game and Neymar hasn’t had consistent minutes for a long time. Meaning no one is really doing it as consistently as Salah is right now.

Just watch his goal last season against Watford or the aforementioned goal against Manchester City, to see just how good Salah is when running at defences. After the year he had, his card in FIFA 23 will highlight this and make him nearly unplayable.

Defending 45 (0)

Salah doesn’t get many chances in the air and didn’t score a single header in the league last season. That would be the only stat in defending that would really impact his overall game.

He also isn’t the most defensive winger, he plays in a system that utilises a high pressing striker, allowing the wingers more freedom to attack and get in behind. Stripping him of any real defensive responsibility.

It’s for this reason it is unlikely he will get any major boost on these stats going into FIFA 23.

Physicality (-)

It is very unlikely Salah will get boosts to any of his physical skills in FIFA 23. Similar to his defending, there was nothing to suggest they should be increased.

There is every chance because he had such a good campaign they will just boost them anyway, it can be very difficult to tell with FIFA sometimes.

Mohamed Salah FIFA 23 Price

Salah is always incredibly expensive on a new FIFA. Last year his price went as high as 650,000 coins in September. He is the best RW in the Premier League, and potentially the best in the whole game, at least until specials begin to release.

Another reason why his price is always so high is because of the league he plays in. The Premier League is always the most popular league in the game and until that changes, Salah will cost a small fortune to get into your team.

Salah’s overall rating was unfairly dropped in between FIFA 21 and FIFA 22. Last season he was one of the best players in the world and showed FIFA why this ratings drop was a mistake.

In FIFA 23, not only will get a boost because of his incredible individual campaign, but also because he was part of an incredibly determined Liverpool side. Liverpool picked up major honours this past and fought hard in every competition they were in, with Salah being a huge part of that.

Will Salah be in the Team of the Year?

Every year, around Christmas time, FIFA has releases their Team of the Year. These special cards are end game specials, if you’re lucky enough to pack it will see you through until FUTTIES and maybe even beyond. Salah has once again had a sensational year, if he can begin the 22/23 campaign well he will be a must for the Team of the Year.

If not, Salah will still get plenty of specials throughout FIFA 23. Salah is incredibly popular, and one of the best in the world. Since his move to Liverpool he is always guaranteed a few informs, and maybe some really big boosts too. It looks to be another year, where you dream of packing that top tier Salah special.
