Rio Ferdinand, one of the voices behind the modern game, and a former professional centre back revealed his FIFA 22 TOTY dream team. The professional revealed who he thinks deserves the FIFA 22 TOTY award on the FIVE podcast.
Rio Ferdinand’s TOTY for FIFA 22
To summarise the celeb’s personal opinion, the following players made the list:
- Goalkeeper – Mendy
- Defenders – Walker, Rudiger, Dias, Cancelo
- Midfielders – Muller, Kante, Verratti
- Forwards – Salah, Ronaldo, Lewandowski
Every single player on this list is a rather big name, and it’s fair to see why the team features such a roster. Examples like Lewandowski made it on the top 10 list before the game officially launched back in September. Meanwhile, Ronaldo is always at the top of his game, even if his performance is not as comparable to his time in Barcelona. Meanwhile, players like Walker, Kante, Cancelo, Salah and more have made it into the FIFA 22 FUT events, such as the TOTW weekly features, Headliners, or other promos the game has had to offer over the last few months.
In fact, some of these players are currently part of the nominees voting event which is live right now. The likes of Salah, Ronaldo, Lewandowski are on that list. Rio’s opinion may even help get more votes on these players to make it competitive.
During the podcast, Rio Ferdinand went into detail on why he thinks these players are great additions to his FIFA 22 TOTY roster. Rio had this to say:
“When I covered a lot of their games (Chelsea), in big key moments, he made big saves. I think that’s where you judge the goalkeeper position, all the nominees are great keepers, and they could all have their say to be in the team” – Rio Ferdinand presents FIVE, January 12.
