There are plenty of boss fights in Final Fantasy 16. Each section of the game will most likely have a boss battle or two for you to get past. The Gigas boss fight is the first of many and it takes place in the Stillwind marsh during the prologue.
As you make your way through Stillwind, you will eventually get a cutscene that shows a goblin leader. After a short fight, the leader will summon Gigas – a massive goblin with an attitude problem.
There are other bosses you will fight early on like the Morbol boss. Make sure your precision dodge skills are on point. This guide will show you how to beat Gigas boss in Final Fantasy 16.
How to beat the Gigas boss battle in Final Fantasy 16
The Gigas boss is the first boss of the Stillwind section of the prologue. Those who play the demo will get to play this fight as well. As soon as Gigas comes out, use your Phoenix Shift ability to teleport to hit and get some hits in. You will be accompanied by both Tyler and Wade for this fight who will also deal damage.
The boss will start by slamming his club vertically. This is the boss’ standard attack and it is easy to see coming. Watch out for the shockwave that affects the immediate vicinity of the club. Dodge to the left or right when he swings his club down. If you get a precise dodge, be sure to get a combo of attacks in.
Keep attacking the boss with your basic attacks, abilities, and magic – dodging the slam attack while you do. When the boss gets staggered, it will fall to the ground. Lay into it with various attacks until it stands back up.
After the first stagger, the boss will start using a horizontal club spin. This move lasts some time so keep your distance and use ranged attacks during this time. The boss will also add a horizontal swing to its attacks. Dodge backward to easily avoid this attack.
Keep attacking the boss, paying attention to the different attacks until it is defeated.
Gigas boss attacks
The Gigas boss only has a few attacks that it will use throughout the fight, making the fight rather simple. This is good considering it is the first fight of the game. Watch out for the following attacks:
- Horizontal Swing – Gigas swings his club horizontally once or twice. Dodge backward to avoid this.
- Vertical Slam – Gigas slams his club down vertically, causing a small AOE around the point of impact. Dodge left or fight to avoid this move.
- Spin – Gigas spins with his club extended. The spin move lasts about 20 to 30 seconds. Keep out of range and use ranged attacks while this move is active.
