The Halo Infinite multiplayer mode has dropped early on both Xbox and PC, so how exactly do you get hold of it to begin playing?

If you’re not too fussed about using the Xbox app that now comes with Windows 11 and 10, you’ll find it amongst the games in Game Pass. The multiplayer is entirely free-to-play, so you won’t have to fork anything over (and if you’re on Xbox, this also means you don’t need a Gold account) and can get started right away.

Simply head to the Xbox app and download the title to get started. This version uses UWP, but you won’t have to worry what that means, just know that this is tied in with your Xbox and Microsoft account, so be sure to have one of those if you’re going in entirely fresh.

If you want to play with friends on Steam, you’ll need to go download the beta through Valve’s service to get in on the ground floor of Season 1.

The game will still prompt you to log in with a Live Account, but other than that, you should be good to go regardless.
