Hogwarts Legacy is now here, and like plenty of games coming out nowadays, it’s open world. So, we know that that it takes place in Hogwarts, but the grounds are MASSIVE, just how big is the Hogwarts Legacy?

Well, it’s been revealed that we’re getting more than just the school now, so let’s take a look at an estimated size.

Warner Bros. and Avalanche Studios have been revealing new trailers and gameplay details, and in one such clip, we got a glimpse of just how huge the Hogwarts Legacy map is.

The game seems to feature places beyond the grounds itself. The school within its own right is a huge area to set a game, with twisting corridors and lofty mess halls, not to mention the sprawling grounds and woods surrounding it.

Game Director, Adam Tew, in the BTS Trailer spoke about the game’s open world, saying: “We knew it wasn’y going to be enough to stare out of the windows of Hogwarts and wonder what it’s like out there.”

We know that the school and the surrounding areas will be ours to roam free around, provided we can still make it to Potions in time. However here’s also a few other locations that we know about.

The Hogwarts map is split into three district sections. On the in-game map, this helps you go in to finer detail with the seperate areas, even giving us a 3D-modelled map of the area to enjoy and browse through before you choose your next quest. These are as follows:

• Hogwarts – a detailed view of Hogwarts Castle itself, where you’ll find many quests and assignments
• Hogsmeade – the quaint village which is home to many vendors and shops
• World – this is the world outside of the main ‘civilization’ of the game, so to speak

Although you are now free to check out the map in-game, there is another way of doing so if you don’t currently have access to Hogwarts Legacy, for whatever reason. This online interactive map is a great tool if you want to explore the world of Hogwarts Legacy without directly hopping in-game. The map is split into the sections we mentioned earlier – Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and World.

Hogwarts Legacy map leak

Stemming from a Reddit post, an apparent leak has come from a supposed art book on Hogwarts Legacy; in which, a map was shown.

This map seemed to depict a revealed green area that fits onto the leaked map. This could potentially line up with the fraction of the map we’ve been shown in official reveals.

If that’s the case, we’ve only seen around a third of the game’s entire map. However, as is the case with all leaks, they must be taken with a pinch of salt – especially this one, as it has since been deleted.

Can you fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy?

If you’ve taken in all of your surroundings and simply want a quick way to get to a location, questline or item, you most certainly can!

We that fast travel is possible. Simply head to Floo Flame locations to be able to travel to any other Floo Flame that you have previously unlocked. The Floo Flame is the game’s mechanical way of fast travelling.
