Diablo 4 allows players to use different skills from the skill tree that can assist them in combat. It is important for you to get familiar with them, as you won’t be able to do much without the right ones. So, to ensure you have mastery over your movement speed, damage bonus, or the ability to stun enemies, you need to know how assigning skills will work.

There are plenty of classes you can utilize in Diablo 4, such as rogue, necromancer, sorcerer, druid, or barbarian. Each of these will have basic skills you will need to carry out those critical strikes. In this guide, we will explain how to assign skills in Diablo 4, considering there is no Elective Mode this time.

How to equip skills in Diablo 4

To assign skills in Diablo 4, you need to open the Skill Assignment menu. This can be done by pressing the S key on your keyboard. Or, if you are using a controller, you’ll need to press the designated button.

Once in the Skill Assignment menu, look around for the skills you want and drag them to the slots. Each class comes with a total of six slots, but you won’t start the game with all of them. Instead, you’ll need to level up to unlock all six skill slots. Furthermore, keep in mind that you will need Skill Points to unlock skills, which can be earned through different methods.

It is important to remember that unlike Diablo 3, where players had to first enable the Elective Mode to assign skills, there is no such thing in Diablo 4. This time, you have complete freedom to arrange the skills as per your own preference.

If you’re someone who plays as Sorcerer in Diablo 4, you must learn about how to unlock Enchantment Slots as well. This is something that allows Sorcerer to gain additional benefits from the skills you cast.

Can you get more than six skill slots in Diablo 4?

Six is, unfortunately, the maximum level cap, as mentioned above. There is no way to get more unless you count the Enchantment slots.

There’s no information currently that Blizzard have plans to add more skill slots in so it’s been very linear since the beginning of Diablo 4, come back for more if there’s more news around the increase of skill slots!
