In yet another disappointing AAA release, Redfall has also released to mostly negative reviews on Steam. One potential issue that came up with the release is the performance, so we take a look at the potential ways how to fix Redfall performance.

These are going to be speculative ways to fix your issues, based on what the known issues for Star Wars Jedi Survivor are and what they have suggested the problems are. As with a similar background these could also apply to Redfall.

Ways to fix Redfall PC performance

Just like the Star Wars game, users have been complaining about the performance issues in the game. Even if the rest of the game still might be disappointing, you may still want to at least experience it at a good performance level. So we look at potential ways to improve Redfall performance issues.

System requirements

Firstly you want to check your PC meets the system requirements of the game. It is moving in the way of most modern games with higher requirements. And so it wouldn’t be surprising if you just can’t be able to run it properly.

And so at a minimum, Redfall requires an Intel Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 1600 CPU. This then needs to be paired with an RX 580 or GTX 1070, but also 16GB of RAM and DX 12 support. So it might catch you out with the memory.

Whilst for the recommended it is said an Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X is required. Along with 16GB of RAM as well, the GPU is increased to an RX 5700, RTX 2080, or Intel ARC. Which is still on the older side but plenty strong if you have anything older.

Update drivers

One big player in the performance is the drivers. The main player is updating your GPU driver, this allows you to stay up-to-date and get day 0 drivers. These will optimize your hardware to work well with anything new.

Lower settings and use upscaling

When it comes to optimizing settings, it might come down to just lowering all the options you have. Especially if you’re running older hardware, it might not quite match up to the requirements. But in the settings, you can change the impact of the game on your system and improve its performance.

Changing the overall quality to low will minimize how much impact it has on your system, it may make the game look a bit worse, but it should still be good enough. You can also turn on the upscaling tech available. And Redfall has FSR in it, so you can turn that on.

FSR works by rendering the game at a lower resolution and upscaling them to your display. It has four settings with performance to quality which will affect the look. So using any of these should lead to some performance increases.

Upgrade to Windows 11

In its statement about the Jedi Survivor performance, Respawn mentioned the fact that some multi-threaded optimized components are still being used on Windows 10. So it is recommended to use it on the newer operating system to get the most out of it.
