Your Hogwarts Legacy broom is a crucial tool for flying across the massive map of Hogwarts Legacy. However, the game isn’t that clear about how to unlock flying, or when you’ll get your very own broomstick.

Not only are flying brooms present in Hogwarts Legacy, but the game also allows players to traverse the magical realm on their own broom as well. Daresay that it might not have been magical enough if that were not the case.

For those who want to start the game with one, that is unfortunately not how it will work in Hogwarts Legacy. Players will get their own broom at about the one-third mark in the story progression.

You can’t unlock your broom in Hogwarts Legacy until around eight to 10 hours into the game. You’ll receive a main quest called Flying Class. Afterward, you can head to Spintwitches in Hogsmeade and purchase a broom for 600 gold.

During your second day at Hogwarts (when you return to the common room and rest) and have completed the quest Jackdaw’s Rest, you’ll receive the quest Flying Class.

This is located on Flying Class Lawn in the Bell Tower Wing of Hogwarts. There, you’ll get a little flying lesson from Madam Kogawa.

After you’ve finished the class, you can head to Spintwitch’s Sporting Needs in Hogsmeade to buy a broom. This store is closed the first time you head there, but after the class, you can grab a broom for yourself for 600 gold.

Buying a broom also unlocks the Flight Test quest with Imelda Reyes at the Quidditch Pitch. Completing these can get you upgrades for your broom to improve your flying experience.

When can you start flying in Hogwarts Legacy?

Once you have completed the “The High Keep” quest to unlock and fly on Hippogriff and Thestral Mount. As far as we know there are at least 13 different brooms available for you to choose from.

The brooms are either unlocked via completing challenges or through a vendor.

Can you join the Quidditch Team in Hogwarts Legacy?

Unfortunately, Hogwarts Legacy will not feature Quidditch at launch. This was addressed by devs on the FAQ page of the Hogwarts Legacy official website.

Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy. However, broom flight for traversal and broom race challenges are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations surrounding Hogwarts Castle.

Are there faster brooms in Hogwarts Legacy?

Not only can you travel to locations faster flying on the broom, but there are also broom races as well. So when you have mastered the art of taking flight on a broom (with the optional attempt at trying to make it seem cool), you can show off your skills in races.

Hogwarts Legacy features a total of 13 brooms; however, apart from their appearance, none of them are any different. Nevertheless, if you’re interested in a better-looking broom, you should look out for pre-requisite quests handed out by shop vendors. Once you have completed the quest, you’ll get the opportunity to purchase a new broom if you have the means.

Moreover, you can also unlock new brooms by popping balloons while riding your broom in the air. Fortunately, these unlocked brooms will be absolutely free! To obtain a faster broom, you’ll have to find the Broom Upgrade side quests, which involve getting involved in a race with fellow student Imelda Reyes.
