Featuring a huge open world map, players will often find themselves going on long treks from one magical place to another. Thus it comes as no surprise that faster modes of travel are an essential feature of the game, such as being able to fly around on brooms.

Since broom travel is a core part of the game, most fans would assume the iconic sport Quidditch is also featured in-game; is that the case for Hogwarts Legacy?
Can you play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy?
Disappointingly, the answer is no. Even without playing the game, a cursory look at the FAQ page will give you the answer: “Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy”. Fans and game critics alike feel as though this was a missed opportunity by the developers to include this quintessential sport in the game, especially since aerial flight on brooms is already implemented in the game.
Why is Quidditch not playable in Hogwarts Legacy?
Hogwarts Legacy lays more emphasis on the character’s story progression and world-building than it does on flushing out all the details of the already-established franchise. Everything from the era in which it takes place to the characters involved is a fresh take on the Harry Potter franchise. Due to the focus on this aspect, the developers felt that spending time and money on something not central to the game’s theme might not be worth it.
Moreover, the boring practicality set aside, the game also presents us with an in-game reason as to why Quidditch is not playable. Simon Pegg’s headmaster (Phineas Nigellus Black) explains in his start to the academic year speech that due to an unfortunate injury in the previous year, the Quidditch season of the year, the year you join, has been canceled.
Will Quidditch ever be playable in Hogwarts Legacy?
What about the prospect of playing Quidditch in the future? Well, we’re afraid that there is currently no news of Quidditch being included in Hogwarts Legacy, but we definitely like to keep our hopes high. Given the success of the game already, all focus goes towards future DLCs. Quidditch has been a feature of many Harry Potter games in the past, and is definitely a popular request among fans. The wonderful flying mechanics of Hogwarts Legacy lend themselves well to our favorite wizarding sport, so let’s hope a Quidditch mini-game (or even a PvP gamemode) is on the cards. There’s are certainly some interesting mods already out there already.

The fact that it does not have Quidditch in it should not swerve you away from Hogwarts Legacy. The developers have made sure to pack tons of engaging content so that, in the end, you do not even think about missing it. With its nine out of ten rating on Steam, this is a game every Harry Potter fan has to play. Besides, there is always the possibility of Quidditch DLC in the future, hopefully.
