Today we’re going to learn about the so-called Hogwarts Legacy money cheat. Hogwarts Legacy uses Galleons for its money, which works like any other currency in a game. There is a lot to buy and unfortunately, not very many Galleons make their way to your pocket early on in the game. This is why a money cheat is perfect for players who can’t say no to those shopping sprees.

We’ve got your farming guide on those hard-to-get Galleons. In fact, you can get up to 6,000 Galleons early on in the game using the easy method we’ve detailed below. Whilst some people are claiming that this method is a money glitch or a money cheat, the truth is it’s not even really an exploit of the game.

So, the Hogwarts Legacy money cheat is really just a way to get Galleons fast. No matter if you are on a console, PC, or Steam Deck, this is a step-by-step guide on how to do that.

How to get Galleons fast in Hogwarts Legacy

So, if you’ve been wandering around the Hogwarts Legacy map, you may have come across these large white chests with an eyeball on them. As you might have noticed when you go to inspect it, the eye will spot you, close, and lock the chest with it. You’ll need a spell to open it.

Well, as it turns out, these white chests hold 500 Galleons each, and there are 12 of them in total throughout the game. This will give you 6000 Galleons in one go. So you just need to unlock them using Disillusionment.

So, to unlock the chests, you need to use Disillusionment. Here’s how to unlock the spell and use it.:

  • Early on, receive the Disillusionment Charm as part of the Secret of the Restricted Section main quest.
  • Visit Hogsmeade when you have the Disillusionment Charm and track down the 12 chests spread around the map; those chests can be found at any point once you have access to Hogsmeade.
  • Find the white chests one by one.
  • Move out of the chest’s line of sight and then use the Disillusionment Charm to turn invisible and sneak back to the chest to open it for a guaranteed 500 Galleons.

Best ways to farm money in Hogwarts Legacy

If you’ve opened all the chests, and you’ve exploited all 6000 Galleons, as well as the Treasure Vaults, and other chests too, you can also farm beasts to sell them. To begin farming sellable beasts, you need to finish the main story quest The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom. This will unlock the gear upgrade feature which will become increasingly useful as you take on tougher quests throughout the game.

Go to Mooncalf Den

Found northwest of Hogwarts past the Quidditch grounds is Mooncalf Den where Mooncalves can be rescued. Use the Floo Flame to easily fast travel to and from the area to speed up the process.

Capture a Mooncalf during the night

Once you arrive at Mooncalf Den, change the time to night. Get rescuing! You can find around eight Mooncalfs during the dark hours. To quickly advance the time from day to night, open the map and press the R3 button (push in on the right stick).

Sell the beasts to Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade

Head to Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade to sell the beasts. Brood and Peck can be found in the north section of Hogsmeade near the Floo Flame. A rescued beast usually fetches 120 Galleons.

How do you get more coins in Hogwarts Legacy?

Money is incredibly useful in Hogwarts Legacy for recipes, better gear, materials, and much more. What can you do other than the above to get more coins and make money fast in Hogwarts Legacy then?

Well, you can always sell your unused gear. Rid yourself of hats, gloves, and robes that are not being worn, and earn yourself some easy money. As we mentioned earlier, Monster Chests are a great way to earn money too. Even if you sell old items of gear, you can still use the Transmog feature to use them as a cosmetic item if you like the particular style of some gear with lower stats worth selling off.

Sell beasts such as Mooncalfs and Puffskeins to grab yourself some quick Galleons. We also invite you to try and spot some shiny beasts while you’re out on your adventures! Although they don’t seem to have any more market value than their non-shiny counterparts.
