Have you tried to run a franchise in Madden 24 only to find out that your team doesn’t have the cap space to sign that star free agent it desperately needs? If so, this guide is for you. Running a franchise is hard enough, and the salary cap makes it even harder.

You may have a good team that needs a wide receiver, but the one you want on the market isn’t going to sign for your maximum offer of one year, $5.5 million. There are ways to increase your cap space, though.

How do I get more cap room in Madden 24?

Salary caps are intended to limit what sports teams can spend on free agents. The idea is that every team can fairly sign as much star power as the next, and keep some parity. If you’re running low in Madden 24, there’s one surefire way to increase it: turn off the limit. This can be considered weak, but it’s the best way to improve your team OVR by signing players like Patrick Mahomes, Javonte Williams and more.

If you want to turn off the salary cap, which is a surefire way to give you as much cap space as you could ever need, follow these steps:

  1. Head to the Options Tab
  2.  Select Franchise Settings
  3.  Scroll down to Commissioner Settings
  4.  Find “Salary Cap”
  5.  Toggle it to Off

This will allow you to sign the best quarterback on offense, stack your defense, and add players like Buffalo Bills star Stefon Diggs, cover athlete Josh Allen, Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, and anyone else you like in free agency. You can build a dominant superteam and sign draft picks or young talent with ease.

Coaches cost money, too, so you can hire the best offensive coordinator or coordinators to run your team. You can get Andy Reid for whatever price to be your head coach if you want. Do all this and turn your favorite team into a dominant Super Bowl-winning depth chart.

Can I increase cap space without turning it off in Madden 24?

You can’t change the salary cap in Madden 24 other than toggling it on or off. If you want to keep the cap space on for fairness and still need to increase space to get the best players, there are things you can do, but you have to be creative. The best time to do this is in the off-season or the pre-season, but it can be done most of the time.

Go to your roster and sort the players by their savings. If that exceeds the value in their penalty column, they can be cut and you’ll save some cap space. Then, sort by penalty. This will tell you who is making the most on your team. Sometimes, players get signed to big deals and they age out of them, making them bad contracts. Those are prime cut or trade candidates.

If a player is making more money than most other players, and their overall isn’t that high, they are worth attempting to trade. You may have to trade them with picks or get a pretty poor return, but it will free up a lot of cap space. Make sure the cap matches for the other team, but they will often accept a deal.

During the season, and before the trade deadline, check which players are available to negotiate a new contract. This means they’ll be a free agent when the regular season and playoffs end, and if you’re not intent on re-signing them, trade them and you’ll get resources and free up cap space. First-round picks are more expensive, so consider trading down for more picks and drafting cheaper players if it comes to that.

You can also go to each player card and scroll to the bottom and try to “Restructure contract”. This will be a negotiation and many players won’t want to make less, but it’s worth a try. This can be done for the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, and every other NFL squad. Madden 24 is currently available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
