MyNBA mode is back in NBA 2K24. That means you can take control of any team from one of the six eras they have. Currently, that is the LeBron James era (mid-2010s), the Michael Jordan era (the 1990s), the Magic vs. Bird era (1980s), the modern era, and the Kobe Bryant era (early 2000s). Any team from those times can be controlled. Here are the most fun ones to try.
What teams should I run MyNBA mode in NBA 2K24?
The 2010 Miami Heat are one of the most fun teams of all time. They had three Hall of Fame level players in LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade, so controlling that team during the LeBron era is an easy choice. You can ensure they make good on their promise to win more than five championships together, and you can ensure James doesn’t ever return to the Cleveland Cavaliers and leave the Heatles in South Beach.
The early 2000s Los Angeles Lakers are another great team to choose. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal are among the best to ever do it at their respective positions. They formed perhaps the greatest duo any NBA team has ever had. Many of today’s 2K players weren’t alive to play with them in the earliest days of the franchise, so now is their chance to experience the epic nature of those Lakers teams in the Kobe era.
For the Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird era, there are two great options. Either the Lakers of that period or the Boston Celtics. Whichever side fans of the rivalry fall on, they can join and ensure the other is lost to history in your new version of basketball history from the 80s.
Naturally, in the 90s, the Chicago Bulls are a team everyone wants to go to. They have Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and others. There are two routes you can take in this era. You can either run it back with the Bulls, or try to stop them from becoming the dynasty with the Utah Jazz or Detroit Pistons, for example.
For the modern era, the Oklahoma City Thunder have to be one of the best to choose from. Not only are they a fringe playoff team now, they have loads of young talent to continue an upward trend. Josh Giddey, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and others make up a young roster. They also have a ton of draft picks to use on each upcoming draft class, so they are easily a team a lot of players will choose to try and bring them to championship glory.
Another good modern team to run with is the Charlotte Hornets. They have few very good young players and a core that’s ready to make the next leap. With your guiding hand, they are easily a team you can turn into a championship-caliber squad.
Try out salary cap mode for increased flexibility, but there are a lot of teams you can try. The Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Orlando Magic, and others are good teams to try and play with.
MyNBA is like the franchise modes of other sports games, but it has different eras that you can enter. That sets it apart and gives a lot of teams a chance to shine from the history of the game. NBA 2K24 has been available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 since early September.
