The MyCareer mode has long been a staple of the legendary NBA 2K series, acting as the franchise’s campaign mode. You can start off from the very bottom to rise to the top of the pro basketball world in the NBA.

A fan-favorite mode since it launched, as soon as NBA 2K24 starts you’ll be able to earn badges, make jumpshots, dunks, and more to become the best in MyCareer mode. To play the game mode though, do you have to be online?

Can you play MyCareer mode offline in NBA 2K24?

No, you will need an internet connection to access the MyCareer game mode in NBA 2K24. Even though it is a single-player story mode, like previous games in the NBA 2K series, there is no offline mode for MyCareer.

It’s not clear why the offline mode was removed for MyCareer, however, the mode has been online only for recent years and is unlikely to change any time soon. The same can be said for both MyTeam mode and MyPlayer mode.

So, for NBA 2K fans, you’ll have to rise to the top of the courts while connected to the internet.

Why is MyCareer mode not offline in NBA 2K24?

While there’s no official reason why MyCareer mode is online only, you will need to access The City for various missions, and The City is online only. The City is the central hub for the game mode where you’ll get the full experience of an NBA career, and you cannot access it offline.

Just because you can’t play MyCareer offline doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to look forward to in the game mode. You can either do a face scan to make your own player or painstakingly craft them yourselves, complete with accessories and tattoos, as you work your way up to the top of the league.
