Pikmin 4 brings the series into a new light as you become a member of the Rescue Corps in search of Captain Olimar. Control plantlike creatures called Pikmin as you explore a mysterious planet, picking up pebbles and searching through the grass to find the beloved captain.

You are accompanied by other Rescue Corps members as well as the Rescue pup Oatchi. While some of the crew members provide helpful items to your inventory, others will help you navigate and increase your abilities.

There are plenty of different Pikmin types to help you in the field. You will need them all to survive on this large strange planet. In past Pikmin games, there has been a co-op mode for players to join in on. Does Pikmin 4 have this same feature? Is Pikmin 4 multiplayer?

Does Pikmin 4 have a multiplayer mode?

Yes! Pikmin 4 does have a multiplayer mode. This mode is called Dandori Battles and it allows one player to compete against a friend. You can also team up with your friend to battle a CPU.

These battles are separate from the story mode of the game and require you to collect treasures faster than your opponent. Whoever collects the most treasure within the time limit is the winner. You will be able to use the different types of Pikmin in this game mode like Red Pikmin and the brand-new Ice Pikmin.

Does Pikmin 4 have co-op?

Once again, yes! Pikmin 4 allows you to play with a second player in co-op. Unfortunately, this co-op mode is pretty limited. The second player takes on the role of an on-screen pointer to help guide you through the levels.

Unlike previous Pikmin games, your co-op partner doesn’t get to control another character. While this is a little lackluster, you can at least play with a friend or loved one. The co-op in this game is local co-op so you won’t be able to play online with a friend.
