How to get Purple Onion in Pikmin 4

Pikmin 4 is a difficult game where you play as a member of the Rescue Corps and track down all of the castaways on the mysterious planet. You are also in search of Captain Olimar, the protagonist from the first game.

While searching the planet, you will come across many Pikmin such as White Pikmin, Rock Pikmin, Yellow Pikmin, Blue Pikmin, and even Purple Pikmin. Each type is needed to obtain treasure and to rescue those lost on the planet.

There are many places you will go during the campaign such as the Sun-Speckled Terrace. Each area has new items to unlock and Pikmin to discover. You must visit all of the areas if you want to unlock all of the Pikmin types. Purple Pikmin, however, are a little more difficult to get. Here is how you get the Purple Onion in Pikmin 4.

How to unlock Purple Pikmin in Pikmin 4

To unlock the Purple Pikmin, you must go through the part of the story where you go to the location called Hero’s Hideaway. Once there, you will unlock Captain Olimar at the ship base. With Olimar unlocked, you will need to complete the side mission called Olimar’s Shipwrecked Tale.

To complete Olimar’s Shipwrecked Tale, you must collect all 30 ship parts in 15 days. After this, a new area will become unlocked in the Rescue Command Post. The new area is called the Trial of the Sage Leaf and it is 10 floors of special Dandori challenges. It is here that you will not only unlock the Purple Onion but the White Onion as well.

With the Trial of the Sage Leaf unlocked, enter the trial and complete all 10 floors. The final floor is titled Final Story: The Purple Key. Completing this stage will unlock the Purple Onion.

There are plenty of other Pikmin types in the game to get such as Red Pikmin and Pink Pikmin. Keep an eye out as you explore to unlock their respective onions. If you manage to get all of the colors, you will be the Pikmin master.
