Why does Earth look so vacant and empty in Starfield? Earth is one of the many planets that you can go to in Starfield and it is not what you would think. The planet is covered in dust and lacks any sort of flora or fauna. There are still plenty of resources to get though.

You can actually visit Earth near the beginning of the game and there are some main story missions that will bring you close to the solar system that the planet is in. You can even build an outpost on the planet if you’d like.

There is plenty to explore in Starfield. While you are exploring, check out Mars and even go to Earth’s Moon. The Starmap is full of places to see like New Atlantis, Neon, and Akila City. Here is everything you need to know about Earth in Starfield from what happened to it to all the resources under its surface.

Starfield – What happened to Earth?

Sarah Morgan will tell you that Earth is uninhabitable thanks to its atmosphere. The entire population was forced to flee its home and abandon the planet. The remnants of the planet are now covered in dust and debris. Broken satellites can be seen surrounding the planet when you reach it.

The Earth officially became uninhabitable in the year 2203 when Earth’s magnetosphere collapsed. Before then, the original grav drive was created by Doctor Victor Aiza after he discovered an artifact, allowing humanity to escape into the stars.

NASA and Dr. Aiza worked together to help humanity before the exodus began. Afterward, the United Colonies government was created.

Earth is located in the Sol System in Starfield. This is one of the earlier star systems you can go to if you have powerful enough grav drives and are close enough to it.

There are multiple landing sites on Earth from Florida to New York and even London. The planet is nothing like it is in the real world and is more comparable to a dust ball. Nearby, you can even find the Apollo Moon Landing Site if you feel like landing on the moon.

Starfield – All Earth Landmarks

There is a total of 10 landmarks that you can visit on Earth in Starfield.

  • The Shard
  • Abeno Harukas
  • Burj Khalifa
  • International Commerce Center
  • The Gateway Arch
  • US Bank Tower
  • Empire State Building

Not all of these landing targets are available right away and you will need to unlock most of them by reading about them in books. One of the earliest landmarks is the London Landmark which leads you to one of the tallest buildings in London.

Starfield – All Resources on Earth

Earth has a fair number of resources lying in wait for you to grab. The following resources can be obtained on Earth:

  • Chlorine
  • Lead
  • Iron
  • Water

  • Mercury

These resources are scattered all over Earth’s surface and you will most likely find them all during your first expedition. While you don’t get to see a thriving planet, you do get to see the remnants of the world that we left behind and take similar footsteps to those who came before you.
