Should you stay at the Lodge or head to the Eye in Starfield? What is the difference in this choice? High Price to Pay is one of the main story missions that directly involves the Constellation members. The encounter faced during this mission has a big impact on the story ahead.

This main story mission should come with a warning because it directly involves your Constellation companions. While you could take this quest lightly like most of the side missions, we recommend that you really think about your choice, unlike the Alternating Currents side quest choice.

Where could you lead your companions in the High Price to Pay quest? Should you stay at the Lodge or head to the Eye?

Should you choose the Lodge or Eye in Starfield?

Between the two choices, we think it is better to go to the Eye. During the High Price to Pay mission, you need to choose between the following options:

  • Stay at the Lodge
  • Go to the Eye

No matter what choice you make, someone will die. Your choice determines which character will die during the story. One of the following characters can die during this mission:

  • Andreja
  • Barrett
  • Sam Coe
  • Sarah Morgan

Warning: There are plenty of spoilers ahead so keep this in mind before continuing.

Depending on which choice you make, someone will either die on the Eye or someone will die in the Lodge. The character with the risk of dying is the one you have the highest affinity with of the romanceable characters. There is also the chance that your second strongest relationship character will die.

This also means that characters like Cora, Matteo, Noel, Vasco, Vladimir, and Walter cannot and won’t die during this mission.

Here is what happens with each choice:

What happens if you choose to stay at the Lodge?

If you decide to stay at the Lodge, the Hunter will attack. When this happens, everyone will flee the lodge and head for the sewers which will ultimately lead them to the Well District.

During this instance, you must protect your allies as they make their escape. After this, you will follow your companions and head through the sewers to the spaceport. From there, you will go to the Eye to check on those who left.

When you reach the Eye, the companion you have the closest relationship with will be dead. Everyone else will merely be injured.

What happens if you choose to go to the Eye?

If you choose to go to the Eye outpost, you will prevent your closest ally from dying. Instead, your second-highest affinity companion will bite the bullet. After reaching the eye, you will get word of the attack on the Lodge.

Head back to the Lodge to find one of your allies dead. Afterward, you must defend everyone from the Hunter as they escape just like you would if you stayed at the Lodge.

During either instance, if you deal enough damage to the Hunter, you will get the Unrestrained Vengeance laser rifle weapon.
