How do you put your weapon away in Starfield? Bethesda Game Studios is known for its amazing RPGs and Starfield is continuing in the trend. There are dozens of weapons to try out in the early hours of Starfield, but you will soon find that not every NPC enjoys it when you flaunt your weapon.

Sometimes, you don’t want to go in and shoot the first person in sight. It is occasionally best to put your gun away, especially if you are trying to negotiate in a hostile zone. It could turn into a shootout that you don’t want to be a part of.

Starfield’s gameplay is much like previous Bethesda Softworks titles except there are now hundreds of planets to explore. If you have the right skills, you can accomplish nearly anything in the game. When you are done with a weapon, sell it. If you are still using it, put it away. Here is how to holster weapons in Starfield.

How to holster weapons in Starfield

If you want to hoster your weapon in Starfield, follow the directions below if you are using a keyboard or an Xbox controller:

  • PC – Press and hold the R key.
  • Xbox Series X/S – Press and hold the X button.

For the most part, weapon visibility isn’t the worst thing in Starfield. Most NPCs don’t mind if you are waving your gun around. There are some benefits to holstering your weapon though. First, your movement speed will increase slightly. Second, you will have a great field of view.

If you don’t like the current key or button required for the holstering of your weapon, you can always change it by accessing the system menu. Here, you can go to the binding section and change the key binds to whatever feels most comfortable for you on the platform you are on.

You can alter the button required for holstering your weapon at any time and change it back at will. Keep this in mind if you want to alter the way you play in the future.
