What is different about Starfield’s new game plus (NG+) mode? Many games have a new game plus mode nowadays that allows you to go back through the game, completing all of the side quests and main quests with upgraded gear. For Starfield, this means collecting all of the artifacts over again.

If you are playing games like Dark Souls, new game plus typically allows you to get new items and rewards as well. Bethesda games don’t typically have a new game plus mode. Other games from the developer like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim don’t have this game mode.

Do you want to explore all of the planets again in Starfield? How about meeting your companions once more and taking them on another journey? Perhaps you will try a different build that relies more on lockpicking than brute force. Here is everything you need to know about Starfield’s new game plus mode.

Starfield – New game plus differences

If you want to enter new game plus mode in Starfield, you will need to know the differences such as what carries over. The following carry over into new game plus:

  • Powers
  • Skills
  • Achievements
  • Campaign progress (if selected)

The following does not carry over into new game plus mode:

As you can tell, there is a lot that doesn’t carry over into the new game plus mode. After beating the game, you can go to the lodge and talk to Sarah. During the conversation, you will get to choose whether you want to reset your story progress. Doing this will restart the campaign.

There is a clear warning before you restart the campaign so you don’t accidentally reset your progress if you don’t want to. All of your other quest progress such as side missions and faction quests will automatically be reset.

Upon entering new game plus, you will get the following additional items:

  • Starborn Guardian Spaceship
  • Starborn Starborn Spacesuit Astra

Other than these items, you will start off with the standard gear you began with during your original playthrough.
