ASUS clearly didn’t get the memo, or is it just temporary pricing? Well let’s hope it is, as currently you can find an ASUS RTX 4070 Super listed 19% above, or £110 over the recommended retail price for the UK market on Overclocker’s website.

We were initially surprised to find the models already listed when researching our where to buy RTX 4070 page since many retailers wait right until the launch to show them off including any last-minute pricing or availability options. But maybe the GPUs announcement alongside two others over a week ago has allowed everyone to prepare everything for the day.

Since the RTX 4070 release date is set for the 17th of January, but with reviews out a day earlier, these listings have been around even longer than that, even without the ability to pre order. but that should give you a good look to see if you even want the card, although it should provide a better value than the RTX 4070 since it is getting upgraded 4070 Super specs for the same price. Well, the recommended price from Nvidia is £579 but on Overclockers, the ASUS Dual OC White is listed for £689.99 instead.

Why is the RTX 4070 Super so expensive?

We like to think this is a one-off. The rest of the models seem to be a more reasonable price, we tend to see overclocked GPU models come with a bit higher price than recommended as a premium offering, but nothing this much.

There may be also an additional tax on top of the color of the model itself. Since white models are rarer if you plan a white-out build, will have to splurge a bit more for it. This is because there are fewer available options and if you go for it, might be willing to spend a premium for it. As such, the ASUS Dual might just be trying to get all that bit more for itself if it is harder to manufacture or there are fewer of them available.

Although even the non-white model is £650, it might just be an ASUS premium overall unless the prices come down on launch.
